FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions contractors ask us most.

  • What does a concrete and masonry estimate include?

It covers footings, foundations, slabs and walls in cubic yards, formwork in square feet, rebar by weight, and masonry units, grout, mortar, lintels and reinforcement for block and brick walls.

  • How are concrete volumes calculated?

Each element is measured from the structural drawings (length, width and depth) and converted to cubic yards, with a waste allowance for over-excavation and spillage. You can check simple pours yourself with our Concrete Calculator.

  • How is rebar quantified?

Rebar is listed by bar size and converted to weight, including lap splices, hooks and chairs, so tonnage matches what the supplier will deliver.

  • How do you count masonry units?

Concrete block and brick are counted from net wall area after deducting openings, then grout fill, mortar and horizontal reinforcement are added based on the wall design.

  • How long does a concrete and masonry estimate take?

Most are delivered in 24 to 48 hours as an editable Excel file organized by CSI Division 03 and Division 04, plus a PDF summary.
